somebody needs to take “romanticize your life” away from the tiktok people. it doesn’t mean “change your life entirely to try and meet some ideal” and it doesn’t mean “try and do as many cool things as possible so you’ll be happy” and it doesn’t mean “present your life to others as though it’s perfect” and it doesn’t mean “try to make your life look as much like someone else’s as possible”
it means YOUR LIFE, WHERE YOU ARE NOW, IS ALREADY GOOD ENOUGH TO BE BEAUTIFUL. it isn’t about waking up early to journal and do a full workout (though if that’s your goal, have at it), it’s about noticing the morning sunshine when you do wake up, and taking a moment to appreciate it. It’s not about completely changing your style to match something you think is the right aesthetic, it’s about remembering to find joy in what you’re already wearing. stop trying to add a sanitized “romance” to your life and revel in the raw, imperfect romance that surrounds you merely because you exist.
they should invent a life that is liveable and a sleep that comes easy and a winter that doesn’t feel like decay and a spring that doesn’t feel like the past and a head that doesn’t hurt and a heart that doesn’t sit in your chest like a rock and a body that doesn’t hate you and a hometown that doesn’t make you lose your mind and a university that won’t kill you they should invent a me that is normal I think that would be really neat. ok good night I love you
